Stunning Color Palettes for Weddings in every season
Not much excites me more than color palettes. There is SO MUCH to color theory, and the way that colors compliment each other. In the wedding industry, I get to work with color constantly which is one of the things I love about wedding photography!
These color palettes are for inspiration. To help you see how colors play out in real weddings. As you plan your wedding, consider the complimentary colors of the colors you love. Use many colors in your palette, don’t be confined to just one or two! And even more importantly, consider the colors of your venue, as well as the season of your wedding, when choosing your color palette.
Let’s dive in to stunning color palettes for weddings in every season!
Spring
This May wedding featured bridesmaid’s dresses in shades of soft green and blue, peach and pink in the florals, and green everywhere.
A classic, historic venue in Pennsylvania was the backdrop for lovely celebration, with a tented reception under the stars. Spring wedding perfection.
What could be more perfect for Spring than pastel yellows and greens?
The bright yellow florals bring joy along with a pop of color. Pastels are soft, delicate colors and pair beautifully together to create a bright, ethereal, luxurious look.
Don’t limit your Spring wedding palette to only pastels!
Mauve, powder blue, and hints of yellow created a vibrant color palette for this intimate wedding. The Groom’s custom suit was also a showstopper with a bold pop of color.
Summer
Summer weddings are so elegant, especially at Charlottesville’s most beautiful wineries.
Blush and cream is a classic summer wedding color palette, but adding in shades of blue and cooler toned pink gives depth to the colors.
Blue is that quintessential wedding color that never gets old.
My favorite part about the blue color palette of this wedding is the fact that the venue was surrounded by blue mountains. Look at the way those colors compliment each other, along with the shades of peach in the florals! I also encourage couples to consider the colors of their venue when choosing their wedding color palette. The venue colors truly become your wedding colors. This wedding speaks to this perfectly.
White, green, and accents of gold is classic.
Simplicity is sometimes the most beautiful! Along with the gold accents, the groomsmen in beige brought this color palette together and speaks “summer outdoor garden party.”
Vibrant pinks and greens in all shades, with tiny accents of blue bring life to the classic summer wedding palette.
Blush and green is a classic, but depth of color in the florals brought a richness to the palette that made it pop! Your florist truly brings your color palette to life, so choose wisely. Hedge Fine Blooms was the artist behind this masterpiece.
Fall
Ahhhh Fall. Nature is full of complimentary colors this time of year.
A palette of muted earth tones made this wedding an Autumn dream. Terracota, cream, peach, muted greens. Also the colors brought life to the bride’s gorgeous complexion!
Add in some vibrance!
This wedding palette brought in deep purple, red, and green along with the traditional colors of Fall. When used correctly, bold, rich colors add an element of visual interest that brings photos to life. Don’t be afraid of bold color!
Is there anything more lovely than golden hues paired with blue?
This wedding color palette brought many shades and colors together in a perfectly cohesive way. The trees in the background of the venue were yellow and orange. Also the golden hour sun and the blue of the mountains had a part to play during the portraits. Such beauty!
Winter
I LOVE winter weddings.
There is so much space for creativity. So many ways to make your event unique. This classy black & white palette with accents of gold was perfect for the Wool Factory’s industrial vibe. The whole color scheme shouted “celebration” which was perfect because the wedding was held on New Years Eve!
Utilize cool colors to bring a winter wedding to life!
Lavender isn’t just a Spring & Summer color! Using the tones of cool lavender in a winter palette is a stunning way to add color to a winter wedding.
Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Four seasons. Endless color to choose from.
As you plan your wedding, don’t be limited to the trends or what you see others doing. Consider your colors and their compliments. Talk to your florist for inspiration. Look at the colors of your venue. Think about how you can bring out seasonal colors in your palette. Be inspired! Pin these palettes to your Pinterest Board! Have fun! Color is one of life’s joys.
Happy Planning!!
